Kidney Early Evaluation & Protection Initiative (K.E.E.P)
Prevent Kidney Failure Before It Begins
The Kidney Early Evaluation & Protection Initiative is a proactive public health program aimed at identifying individuals at risk for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) before symptoms arise. Through early screening, education, and lifestyle guidance, the initiative helps prevent the progression of kidney damage—empowering people to take charge of their kidney health before it's too late.
🔴 Why K.E.E.P Is Critically Needed
- In Pakistan, 9 out of 10 people with kidney disease don’t know they have it until it’s too late.
- Silent Progression: Kidney disease often has no symptoms until 70–80% of kidney function is lost.
- High-Risk Groups: Diabetics, hypertensive patients, and the elderly are especially vulnerable.
- Late Diagnosis = Dialysis or Death: Without early detection, thousands end up in end-stage renal failure, requiring lifelong dialysis or transplant.
- No Public Screening Programs: Most underserved communities lack access to preventive screening for kidney function.
🌟 Objectives of the K.E.E.P Project
- Detect kidney disease early in high-risk individuals.
- Prevent progression to dialysis-dependent kidney failure.
- Raise awareness about lifestyle and medical prevention.
- Offer affordable or free screening to Zakat-eligible and underserved patients.
- Build a national model for kidney health screening at the community level.
🛠 Our Strategy
- Community-Based Screening Camps: Regular field visits in mosques, schools, villages, and clinics.
- On-Site Testing Screening includes:
- Blood Pressure
- Random Blood Sugar
- Urine Albumin
- Serum Creatinine
- eGFR (Kidney Function Score)
- Patient Education: Every person screened receives a risk report, prevention tips, and referral if needed.
- Digital Record Keeping: All patient data is logged for follow-up and public health analysis.
- Cost-Efficient Model: Only Rs. 2,000 per patient for full screening — Zakat funds cover those who cannot afford it.
✅ How It’s Being Executed
- Led by MMDC's Nephrology Team & Trained Staff
- Mobile Screening Units visit high-risk communities monthly
- Zakat & Donation-Funded: Free for eligible patients
- Referral Pathway to MMDC Dialysis or Nephrology Clinics
- Public Awareness Drives: Friday sermons, school seminars, posters, and SMS alerts
- Monthly Target: Screen 200+ individuals
- Impact Monitoring: Every positive case is tracked for intervention
💰 Rs. 2,000 = One Life-Saving Kidney Screening
- You can sponsor one patient’s screening and potentially prevent dialysis, disability, or death.
