The Kidney Early Evaluation Project (KEEP) at MMDC aims to identify and manage individuals at high risk of developing Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and progressing to dialysis. Here’s an overview:

High-Risk Population

  • Diabetic patients: Individuals with diabetes are at increased risk of developing CKD.
  • Hypertensive patients: Uncontrolled hypertension can lead to kidney damage and CKD.
  • Kidney stone patients: Recurrent kidney stones can increase the risk of CKD.
  • Family history of CKD: Individuals with a family history of CKD are at higher risk.
  • Fatal diet: Consuming a diet high in salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats can increase the risk of CKD.
  • Hakeem Quake medicine: Use of certain traditional medicines can harm kidney function.

Screening and Intervention

  • Camps: Organize community-based camps for screening and awareness.
  • Clinic: Establish a dedicated clinic for high-risk individuals.
  • Screening tests: Conduct urine tests, blood tests, and other diagnostic tests to identify kidney damage.
  • Lifestyle modifications: Educate individuals on healthy lifestyle habits, such as a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management.
  • Medication management: Optimize medication regimens to manage underlying conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • Regular follow-up: Schedule regular follow-up appointments to monitor kidney function and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Goals and Benefits

  • Early detection: Identify kidney damage early, reducing the risk of progression to CKD.
  • Prevention: Prevent or delay the onset of CKD through lifestyle modifications and medication management.
  • Improved outcomes: Improve health outcomes and quality of life for high-risk individuals.
  • Reduced healthcare costs: Reduce healthcare costs by preventing or delaying the need for dialysis and other costly interventions.

Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Community engagement: Engage with local communities to raise awareness and promote participation.
  • Healthcare provider partnerships: Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless referrals and care coordination.
  • Government partnerships: Partner with government agencies to access resources and funding.

Evaluation and Monitoring

  • Data collection: Collect data on screening results, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Regular evaluation: Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the program and identify areas for improvement.
  • Quality improvement: Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance program outcomes.
